Michel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Letters from the University of Yaoundé 1 and a High School Teacher Diploma in the same field from the École Normale Supérieure de Yaoundé. 

Before beginning his French PhD program at Rutgers, he spent six years as a French and English teacher in several Cameroonian schools. With a passion for History and Politics, Michel has consistently explored literary works for insights into human tragedies.

His research interests are broad and include decoloniality, environmental awareness, deglobalization, conflict, trauma, terror, and migration. For his PhD, he plans to research the fictionalization of conflict and the uprising of nations in post-colonial West African and Caribbean Francophone novels.
