Marion Benwell is a Lecturer at the Department of French. She holds a Master’s degree from Sorbonne Nouvelle University in the English Language, Literature and Societies and she is specialised in English linguistics. She is a student of English and Arabic at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, where she has co-organised several conferences around languages: the week-long conference “Southern Shores: Africa and the Arabic worlds” (2022), and a seminar focusing on the “Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Neuter Pronoun in English” (2025).
Training towards a PhD, her research interests centre around the form of the to-infinitive at the syntax-phonology interface. She is also interested in pragmatics and grammaticalization.
She holds a higher-level teaching qualification for English (the French agrégation), and she has taught translation and phonology classes at Sorbonne University.
